Jimmy Ray Mendenhall Jr.

Jimmy Ray Mendenhall Jr., 40, of Warner is charged in Muskogee County District Court with felony counts of aggravated possession of child pornography, distributing or participating in the publishing of obscene material and violation of the Oklahoma computer crimes act by storing child porn on a Google Cloud account.

Google tipped off Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officer Melissa Jackson, formerly of the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Mendenhall was storing “copious amounts” of child pornography to his Google Cloud account through the Google Photos and Google Drive systems. Google provided the phone number and email address to the account, as well as eight cyber tips, each of which contained 300 file attachments of alleged child pornography.

Jackson, operating under cover, contacted Mendenhall on his Facebook account allegedly operated under an alias, “James Buffett”, and using that contact, established a conversation with him, ostensibly offering to meet with him. Mendenhall allegedly provided her the phone number linked with the Google Drive account so she could text him en route.

His bond was set yesterday at $150,000. Mendenhall is still in jail, and the court is set to appoint him a lawyer for a sounding docket on July 16.
