Wagoner County Commissioner James Hanning

Wagoner County District Attorney Jack Thorp has asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to take over the investigation into longtime Wagoner County Commissioner James Hanning for allegations that he molested a little girl.

Hanning, who has been a Wagoner County commissioner since 2011, is accused of inappropriately touching the girl when she was in grade school, a letter dated Oct. 22 from Thorp’s office to the Oklahoma Attorney General’s office.

The girl made the allegations during testimony in an unrelated lawsuit, Thorp’s letter states, adding that his office was notified Special Agent Green is taking over the investigation and that Hanning’s private attorney has withdrawn from representing him.
