John Lampson

Last Friday, deputies with the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office made two arrests in connection to a mobile home fire where two people were found dead, then released them two days later.

On July 2, deputies and investigators responded to a mobile home fire in the Lake Crest area of Wagoner County.

After the fire was extinguished and a search was concluded, two bodies were discovered inside what is thought to be the bedroom of the mobile home.

The bodies were taken to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.

A positive identification has not yet been made and the department does not expect those result for at least another week.

An eyewitness gave information to investigators which led to probable cause and the arrest of John Lampson, 31 of Chouteau and Carlos Valdez, 18 of Chouteau on complaints of first-degree murder and first-degree arson.

Both were taken into custody at John Lampson’s home in Lake Crest.

After booking Lampson and Valdez into the Wagoner County Jail, the investigation continued throughout the weekend. Yesterday, after discussion with the District attorney’s Office and investigators, both Lampson and Valdez were released from custody pending further investigation.
