Kellie Sparks and Anthony Sheets of Fort Gibson were both injured in a head-on collision east of Fort Gibson on Thursday, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Sparks, 46, was driving a 2001 Mercury Marquis northbound on Manard Road and Sheets, 48, was driving a 2013 Chevy Silverado southbound on the same road around 7:30 a.m. when Sparks traveled left of center and slammed into Sheets, according to the patrol.
Sparks was pinned inside her vehicle for 16 minutes before being pried out by the Woodall Fire Department. She was transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee, where she was admitted in stable condition with arm, leg and trunk internal injuries. Sheets was transported by private vehicle to Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, where he was treated and released for internal injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
