Just know, a watery tart throwing a sword at you is no kind of basis for a system of government. Or so a couple of peasants tell King Arthur in the movie Monte Python and the Holy Grail.
- DATES: April 21, 22, 23 and April 27, 28, 29
- CURTAIN: 8 p.m., except Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.
Python co-founder Eric Idle took that movie and turned it into a Broadway musical “lovingly ripped off”. And now Muskogee Little Theater is presenting the musical comedy, sponsored by the Castle of Muskogee.
The musical recreates scenes from the beloved 1975 film while skewing Broadway tropes, in a cheeky piece of music hall frivolity that copped three Tony Awards, including best musical, and has gone on to tremendous success in productions around the world.
Many of the film’s most memorable sequences are recreated, from the taunting French Knights, to Tim the Enchanter and the Killer Rabbit. Even the Black Knight manages to have all his limbs hacked off on stage.
