Mrs. Martha Peters’ seventh-grade class at Saint Joseph Catholic School are among three finalists in a statewide contest to raise awareness of litter and its cleanup.
The students wrote a collaborative essay describing the consequences of litter and the hazards and dangers of landfills in an effort to encourage recycling as part of the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful initiative.
The public voted for the finalists, and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation will select a winner, which will be announced Nov. 22.
Keep Oklahoma Beautiful is a nonprofit working to empower Oklahoma citizens to preserve and enhance the state’s natural beauty and ensure a healthy, sustainable environment. For more information visit www.keepoklahomabeautiful.com.
