You may never have heard of the band Secret Society, but you will. And you can, tomorrow night at Max’s Garage.
Muskogee native and founder Philip Flanary has been in the music business for 30 years, playing with huge artists from Eddie Money to Color Me Badd to Debbie Gibson, Taylor Danye and even the Platters. Another Muskogee native, Gene Longcrier, has been called one of the best bass guitar players in the nation.
Fronting the band is acclaimed singer Vanessa Oxford from Tulsa, and the team is rounded out by drummer Mike Roberson, guitarist Mike McClure and keyboardist John Krause. The group plays nothing but hits, ranging from the 1970s to today, with powerhouse vocals, virtuoso music and the kind of tastefulness money can’t buy.
You can catch them tomorrow at Max’s Garage, Main and Broadway Streets, starting at 9 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge, and no one under 21 is allowed.
