The Muskogee Police Department along with United States Marshal Service began Sex Offender Compliance Checks in the City of Muskogee June 24.
The goal of this operation is to ensure that the Muskogee Police Department has the most current information concerning our sex offenders, and to insure that all the sex offenders are within compliance of their conditions.
Depending on the level of registry, some of these conditions may include the following:
- Distance from schools, churches, and playgrounds, internet access, any children living in the home and other conditions.
Anyone found to be living out of compliance will have charges filed and a case submitted to the district attorney’s office for review. In some instances the offender could be arrested.
Along with the Muskogee Police Department, and the United States Marshal Service, this operation is being conducted in conjunction with Cherokee Nation Marshals, Creek Nation Lighthorse, OSBI, Oklahoma Probation and Parole, Oklahoma Department of Corrections, and Homeland Security.
