If you attend The Choice at First Assembly of God this weekend, you might find yourself doing a lot of something you don’t expect to do at a passion play: laughing.
- WHEN: Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., Sunday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- WHERE: Muskogee First Assembly of God, Gulick Street.
- ADMISSION: Free
“I tried to put humor in there,” said Deborah Rose, who put together the passion play. “We start from the birth of Jesus and go on to the ascension.”
The play also follows the story of a Roman centurion who falls in love with a Jewish woman and must make a tough choice between his love and taking a position in the court of Pilate.
The play, which is between an hour and a half and two hours long, ends in heaven, with a climax at the tomb of Christ during his resurrection.
“It’s hard to find a complete one, so we put together our own,” Rose, who is also Pastor Steve Rose’s wife, said. “People are really going to enjoy it.”
