Stephen Hill, 25, of Oktaha and Gail Estep, 67, also of Oktaha were both hurt in a rear-ending wreck on northbound US 69 this weekend, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Hill was driving a 2014 Toyota Highlander northbound on the highway when he struck a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban from behind, according to the patrol. The Suburban fled the scene.
Hill was treated and released from Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee for head injuries. Estep was admitted to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa in poor condition with head, leg, arm and trunk external injuries. She was pinned in the vehicle for an hour, the patrol reported, and freed by the Lotawatah Fire Department.
The patrol is still investigating the cause of the collision, but noted the odor of alcoholic beverage. Neither injured party was wearing a seatbelt, and airbags did not deploy, the report states.
