Muskogee’s Historic Roxy Theater will kick off the holiday season with the showing of the comedy classic Christmas Vacation on Saturday, November 13.
The 1989 box office hit stars Chevy Chase in his comedic prime and veteran actress Beverly D’Angelo with Randy Quaid and The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki. Both the 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. showings of the movie are free to the public.
The third installment of movies that follow the Griswold family was adapted from the short story “Christmas 59” written by John Hughes. The movie’s scenic exteriors were filmed in Summit County, Breckinridge, Frisco and Silverthorne Colorado. The rest of the motion picture was shot at Warner Brothers Ranch Facilities in Burbank California where the Griswold House and street are located.
The Roxy Theater kicked off its annual food bank drive during its previous movie showing and encourages attendees to the movie that are able to drop by any canned or boxed food items. All food collections will be given to local food pantries.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m., and concessions and adult beverages will be available for purchase.
