The Muskogee County district attorney says Chasity Renee Brewer, 41, of Muskogee set her own vehicle on fire, told police it was stolen when she was kidnapped by two men and filed an insurance claim on property she allegedly lost in the destruction of the vehicle.
On Dec. 4, Brewer allegedly told police she had stopped for a broken-down vehicle, but two armed men approached her and kidnapped her, stealing her 2016 Chevrolet Malibu in the process. She told police she was later able to escape, and police later found the vehicle on fire.
Police say she filed a claim with her insurance company to cover the vehicle, $1,668 in cash, an iPad, a gold diamond ring worth $1,300 and a gold necklace worth $500, “when this property had not in fact been destroyed and defendant was well aware of that fact.”
She is facing two felonies: third-degree arson and false claim for insurance, and one misdemeanor: false reporting of a crime.
