Muskogee Police officer Brian Hackett has been arrested on complaints of domestic assault and battery, several law enforcement sources have confirmed.
Hackett is accused of hitting his wife in the head with his service pistol tonight, they also confirmed.
There is no word what precipitated the alleged attack.
Sheriff Rob Frazier confirmed Hackett has been arrested.

On March 11th, the Muskogee Police Department conducted an investigation after allegations were made that Officer Brian Hackett had committed Domestic Assault. As a result of that preliminary investigation he has been arrested and booked into Muskogee County Jail on the charge of Domestic Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Brian Hackett has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the results of an internal investigations. While both the criminal and internal investigation are currently ongoing, we are unable to make any further statements at this time.
UPDATE 9:44 p.m.: Hackett has been booked and moved to another jail for his own safety, according to Frazier.
