Sebron Dejuan Brown, age 35, of Muskogee entered a guilty plea in federal court yesterday to Conspiracy to Commit Odometer Tampering, two counts of Odometer Fraud, and to Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud. Brown could potentially be sentenced to up to 20 years imprisonment for the multiple violations of federal laws.
From December 2016 and continuing through May 2017, Brown agreed and conspired to knowingly and willfully reset the odometers of motor vehicles, intending to change the mileage registered by the odometers to reflect lower mileage than the vehicles actually had on them.
From March 3, 2017 through May 2, 2017, Brown and accomplices conspired to transmit “signals and sounds” over telephone lines for the purpose of executing a scheme to defraud insurance companies.
The charges arose from an investigation by the Muskogee Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Office of Odometer Fraud Investigation.
