Nicholas Wayne Strebel, 39, of Muskogee is charged in Muskogee County District Court with two felonies and five misdemeanors after an incident on July 6 on West Broadway Street west of the city, according to documents filed with the case.
Strebel is accused of forcing his wife to stay inside the couple’s home and then placing her in a choke hold while threatening to hurt her. Police also allege he grabbed her phone while she was trying to call 911 and hitting her in the face with it.
An affidavit filed with the case further alleges he assaulted his mother-in-law and two neighbors who tried to break up the melee. When police arrived, they state he resisted deputies, who had to use force to arrest him.
Police allege he was drunk during the entire encounter.
