Rebecca Jean Boyd

Rebecca Jean Boyd, 29, of Muskogee went missing in 2002, according to reports from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. In July of 2005, a skull was found in a field in Kiowa by a farmer, and the body part was identified only as Jane Doe, since it could not be identified.

Today, the OSBI announced that it has identified the skull as Boyd’s.

The rest of Boyd’s body has not been recovered, and her cause of death is undetermined at this point.

Boyd was visiting relatives in Lawton on July 26, 2002, which is the last time she was seen alive. Her skull was identified this year when detectives matched her skull’s DNA with Boyd’s DNA, which had been entered into a national missing persons database.

The OSBI is pledging to discover how her skull ended up in the field, whether any foul play was involved, and if so, who was responsible.
