Muskogee-native attorney Matthew Price was endorsed by the Muskogee County Bar Association in the race to replace retiring District Attorney Orvil Loge last night.
The Bar Association is the local branch of the statewide organization that governs lawyers.
Loge is taking a position as a special district judge. His last day as DA is this week. Although Price is the only candidate to have formally declared his candidacy for the position, current assistant DA Larry Edwards of Tulsa is expected to run (and was present at the Bar meeting) and attorney James Walters is also expected to run. Both received votes at the meeting, but Price won the vote.
Gov. Kevin Stitt is meeting with candidates this week and is expected to pick an interim replacement for Loge soon.
