Timothy David Roberts, 28, of Muskogee was arrested yesterday on charges of aggravated assault and battery, assault and battery and child endangerment after his bondsman, Chuck Jones, tried to take him into custody.
Roberts was already facing charges of domestic assault and battery by strangulation, domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor child, possession of controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia in a July 14 incident where he allegedly choked Allie Travis while she was holding her infant child. According to an affidavit filed with that case, Roberts had methamphetamine and a meth pipe on him when he was arrested.
Yesterday, Roberts allegedly came to Jones’ office at 319 Court Street holding a small child. When Jones attempted to take him into custody anyway, Roberts allegedly assaulted Jones and Paula Walker while still holding the child.
“I told him to call someone to pick the child up,” Jones said. “That baby was priority one in my eyes. He tried to use the child as a shield.”
Jones said he later found out that when Roberts fled, he threw the child through an open window of his car by one of the child’s arms. Jones said he “backed off” when he realized Roberts was going “berserk” and the child was likely to be hurt.
“I thought my back was broke,” he said, but it turned out he had a dislocated rib and pulled back muscles. He was treated and released at the Muskogee VA Hospital.
Roberts was later arrested by the Muskogee Police.
