Betty Smith Ridge, longtime Muskogee reporter and author of the book, Deadlines, which chronicles her time in Muskogee journalism, will speak at the Muskogee Public Library on May 25.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Grant Foreman room of Muskogee Public Library. Ridge will be available for a book signing of “Deadlines” from 5 until 6 p.m. before her talk.
Ridge has done a bit of everything during her 35 years as a journalist in Oklahoma. She covered the first execution in Oklahoma in nearly a quarter century, and two days later wrote about a cow chip throwing contest.
Visitors are welcome to attend the meeting. There is no charge to attend, but memberships in the society are welcome. Those attending usually bring snacks to share.
