Several local bands are planning to put on a free rock concert at the Rainbow Amphitheater in Honor Heights Park from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.
“We just saw that place and thought it was a shame that it wasn’t being used more,” Noah Lyons, drummer for one of the bands, said. “And we wanted a place to showcase local rock and roll bands.”
The bands that are playing the show all focus on rock music, not country, red dirt, hip-hop or any other genre, he said.
The Shakos, CouchNaps, Blackout and Esc Ctrl are slated to play.
“You don’t really see much rock music in the Muskogee area,” Lyons said. “We hope this will change things around.”
The event, called Rocking the Rainbow, will be attended by food trucks, Lyons said. The groups hope to make it an annual event.
