The Muskogee Medical Foundation is hosting its annual Christmas dinner at noon at the Muskogee Civic Center on Christmas day.
The Muskogee Medical Foundation is once again sponsoring a free Christmas Dinner for anyone and everyone, in honor of the late Cassandra Gaines, a longtime resident of Muskogee, notable for overseeing Muskogee’s multicultural activities and managing the Roxy Theater and Muskogee Civic Center.
She was also the founder of Muskogee’s annual Soul Food Cook-Off. Gaines was instrumental in bringing many celebrities to Muskogee, such as Magic Johnson, Tony Dorsett, Xernona Clayton and Chris Tucker.
The community Christmas dinner originally started in 2012 to benefit the Gospel Rescue Mission residents. The event was moved the very next year to The Frisco Depot to accommodate anyone who wanted to attend. In 2015, it was renamed “Momma C’s Soul Food Christmas Dinner” in honor of Cassandra.
This year, it will be moved to the Muskogee Civic Center. Live music will also be provided and you never know who will show up. Last year the Swon Brothers performed.
