A man in his 20s was stabbed to death, allegedly by a Native American juvenile, yesterday, according to law enforcement officials. The man, whose identity has not been released, was stabbed on Scott Street in Fort Gibson yesterday afternoon, they report.
Police in Fort Gibson turned the case over to the FBI because the suspect is Native and therefore falls under their jurisdiction.
The man was pronounced dead when he arrived at Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee.
The FBI has not returned calls for comment.
UPDATE: The FBI confirms that a man was stabbed to death inside a residence in Fort Gibson and that it is working with the Fort Gibson Police Department and the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service on the case because the suspect, who is in custody, is a Native. The agency would not confirm that the suspect is a juvenile, and said its policy prevents it from releasing the names of victims.
