Shaun Pingleton, 45, of Fort Gibson was killed last night around 3 miles east of Okay in a single-vehicle collision, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Pingleton was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer westbound on Oklahoma Highway 251A at 5:31 p.m. when he suddenly departed the roadway to the right, the patrol reported. He overcorrected, crossing the center line and departing the roadway to the right again, overcorrecting again, rolling the vehicle two and a half times, coming to rest on its top. He was partially ejected from the vehicle while it rolled.

The cause of the collision is under investigation, as is the condition of Pingleton at the time. He was pronounced dead at Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee from head, internal and external injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
