Woodie Joe Brooks I, 72

Died Wednesday, April 21, 2021

Woodie Brooks I, 72, passed into eternal life April 21, 2021.

He was born January 3, 1949 in Summit, Oklahoma, the son of Ruby and Curtis Brooks. Woodie graduated from the Historic Manual Training High School with the class of 1967. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.

On March 16, 1973 he married Annie Beasley and during this union they had two children, Brenda Brooks and Woody Brooks II. Even though this union came to an end they still remained good friends.

Woodie served his time and had an honorable discharge from his services in the military due to unforeseen medical conditions. Later on in his life he became employed at Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Hospital as a foreman and then later retired. He enjoyed life playing dominoes, shooting pool and going to the casino.

Woodie is preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Ruby Brooks, Sr., his brothers, Curtis “Beaver” Brooks, Jr., Sammy Brooks, Tommy Brooks, and Claudie Brooks.

Woodie is survived by his children, Brenda Brooks, Woody Brooks (LaVette), Rodrico Brooks and two that he loved and cared for as his own Gennaro and Sabrione Toliver. His siblings, Sandra Terry, Ricky Brooks (Tonya), David Brooks (Angeline), Don Brooks, Lula McVay (Hank), 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will cherish his loving memories.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee, 2200 Military Blvd, Muskogee, OK with Rev. Richard Brooks eulogizing.
