Winston Anderson Sr., 76

Born Monday, March 2, 1942

Died Saturday, January 5, 2019

Winston Anderson, Sr., was born on March 2, 1942, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Arthalia Collins and Jess Anderson.

He peacefully went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 5, 2019.

Winston was a 1960 Manual Training High School graduate, where he served as senior class president. He attended Langston University and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He worked for the Veteran Administration Regional Office as a Benefit Counselor for Veterans and retired from there after working over 30 years. He also served as long time Board Member of Muskogee Federal Credit Union until his health failed.

He was a lifetime active member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was baptized at an early age and faithfully served as a Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday School. Winston loved his church and was faithful and committed to the very end.

He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Lisa Lazard (Terry) Lafayette, Louisiana; three sons: Robbie Anderson, Muskogee, Oklahoma; Winston Anderson, Jr., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Lonnie Boatman, Muskogee, Oklahoma; one brother, William Anderson (Delois) Choctaw, Oklahoma; and one sister, Celestine Johnson, Marina Del Rey, California. Seven Granddaughters: Chelsea Anderson, Brittany Scott, Aariyah Anderson, Skylar Anderson, Haley Conley Lazard, Destiny Lazard, and Taylor Lazard. Two grandsons: Jordan Cooper and Demetrius Lazard. Five great grand children: Jontrae Webber, Jhordynn Webber, Jamarien Cooper, Au’brehana Cooper and Janya Cooper. Nephews: Brian Johnson, Keith Anderson, Richard Anderson, and Stephen Anderson; niece, Dena Anderson, and special friend, Elizabeth Hanley, along with a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Hester Peters and Arthur Collins; nephew, Rodney Johnson and niece, Regina Johnson.

He was an awesome son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His smile and laugh were infectious. He never met a stranger and had a kind word for everyone. He will be greatly missed.

A Home Going Service is scheduled, Saturday, January 19, 2019, 11:00 a.m., Timothy Baptist Church, 5530 W. Okmulgee Ave., Muskogee, OK. Interment will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee, OK with military honors performed by Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guards.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
