Born Monday, November 17, 1930

Died Monday, November 4, 2019

Mrs. Wilma Walston, after 88 seasons of life, transitioned to Eternal Life on Monday morning, November 4, 2019 from Midwest City, Oklahoma.

The late Reverend John Henry and Essie Mae [Ewing] Halliburton were blessed with a beautiful baby girl on November 17, 1930 in Clearview, Oklahoma. They named her Wilma Arvella.

Wilma attended Rosenwald School near Henryetta, Oklahoma and spent the majority of her life in Okmulgee.

Wilma met Alfred Walston, and they were married in 1951.

She worked as a Nurse aid for many years at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital and also some of the local nursing homes. She also worked for Ramsey's Department Store in downtown Okmulgee during her lifetime.

She was a longtime, faithful member of the Shorter Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Walston, Sr.; her parents, her son, Alfred Leonard Walston, her step-son, Ronnie Glazer, and a great-grandchild.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter, LaTonya Walston, Tulsa, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Priscilla M. Hill, Richmond, California, Edith [Clifford] Marshall, Muskogee, Oklahoma and Merdis Word, Kansas City, Kansas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her sacred farewell will be shared on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Shorter Chapel AME Church. Pastor Freeman Culver will officiate. Burial will follow in the Clearview Cemetery, Clearview, Oklahoma.

You may visit Ms. Walston, as she slumbers in sweet repose in the Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.
