William Louis Washum, 79

Died Monday, October 12, 2020

William Louis Washum, 79, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, October 12, 2020. He was born on February 15, 1941 to Rufus “PeeWee” Washum and Helen Louise Washum in Fort Smith, Arkansas. William graduated from Warner High School and attended Connors State College.
He married the love of his life, Joy Christine Hill, on August 7, 1959 in Van Buren, Arkansas. They shared over 61 years of life and marriage together.
William was the owner of W.L. Washum Trucking until his retirement in 2000. He loved spending time with his high school friends and playing pool at his friend Chuck Wallis’ house. He also loved talking about trucks and his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Helen Louise Washum; brother, Fay Washum; and sister, Nellie Irene Aghas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy Washum of the home; son, Ron Washum and wife Anna of Broken Arrow, OK; brother, Joe Washum and wife Della of Harrah, OK; sisters, Helen Mowery of Wagoner, OK and Katherine Roemer, husband Harvey of Las Vegas, NV and Sybil Richardson and husband Bob of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren, Chrisi Caywood of Hunnington Beach, CA, Nicci Hopkins of Broken Arrow, OK, Chris Horn and wife Nina of Ft. Worth, TX, Christian Zaio and wife Mimi of Broken Arrow, OK, and Annie Zaio and fiancé Richard Wolfe of Coweta, OK; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown of Hunnington Beach, CA, Chistopher Horn of Ft. Worth, TX, Adam Zaio and Liam Zaio of Broken Arrow, OK, and Legacy Hopkins of Broken Arrow, OK; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A celebration of William’s life will be 2PM, Friday, October 16, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Stephens officiating.
