W.G. ‘Dub’ Huskey, 89

Died Friday, July 3, 2020

W.G. ‘Dub’ Huskey, 89, of Fort Gibson was born March 7, 1931 in Bruno, Arkansas to Lee Monroe and Lillie Ivon (McEntire) Huskey and received his eternal reward on Friday, July 3, 2020 in Muskogee with his loving family by his bedside. Dub grew up in Yellville, Arkansas and received his formal education at Nuyaka. He met, fell in love with, and later married his best friend and love of his life, wife Oleta Brewer on June 6, 1950 in Van Buren, Arkansas. Dub was the President of the Lyons Club, along with a Boy Scout Leader in Red Oak, OK. He retired from Rock Island Railroad as a Depot Agent in 1980 after 27 years of service. Dub and Oleta moved to Fort Gibson and made it their home. He was a member of the Fort Gibson First Baptist Church for many years. Dub was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Oleta of the home; daughter, Saundra Coy and husband Bill Coy of Fort Gibson, OK; son, Grant Huskey and his wife Lannette Huskey of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, De’Anne Campbell of Hot Springs, AR; sister, Mary Witt of Morris, OK; sister-in-laws, Velma Smith of Yukon OK, and Kathy Huskey of Sallisaw, OK; grandchildren, Brad Coy, Bridget White, Jeff Walker, Ryan Huskey, and Wes Walker; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; extended family and many friends. Viewing for Dub will be 12PM-7PM Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends 5PM-7PM. A service celebrating Dub’s life will be 10:00AM Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at the Fort Gibson First Baptist Church with Pastors Glen Rowan and Nate Capps officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Grandson’s serving as casket bearers, Brad Coy, Jeff Walker, Wes Walker, Dean Igert, Cole Igert, and Chris White. Honorary casket bearers will be Grandson’s Ryan Huskey and Charlie Disney. In light of Covid-19 and the 50 people or less guideline, we respectfully ask friends to join us in the parking lot of the Fort Gibson First Baptist Church to listen to the service on your radio @ FM 87.7, watch on Facebook Live on the Fort Gibson First Baptist Church Facebook page, or join us at the committal service at Citizens Cemetery at 11:30AM.
