Wayne E. Pamplin, 82

Born Sunday, June 13, 1937

Died Monday, July 22, 2019

Wayne E. Pamplin, 82, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to Heaven to be with Jesus on Monday, July 22, 2019. He was born on June 13, 1937 to Estell “Mutt” Pamplin and Lillie (Baker) Pamplin in Paris, Arkansas. Wayne attended Sequoyah Grade School as a child and was a high school graduate of Muskogee Central High School Class of 1955. In his teenage years he hitchhiked along Route 66 several times. At the age of 19, Wayne played several seasons with the Oklahoma All Star Basketball Team against Marcus Haynes and Meadowlark Lemon of The Harlem Magicians in the basketball exhibition games.
He married the love of his life, Jeanine Staggs, on March 3, 1967 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared over 52 years of life and marriage together.
Wayne worked at Corning Glass from 1966-1985 and he was also the owner of Heroes Diner. He was a member of Eastside Community Church for many years. Wayne was an avid OU fan and loved watching them play. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. He will always be remembered by everyone who knew and loved him.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Estell “Mutt” Pamplin and Lillie (Baker) Pamplin; and son, Bryce Pamplin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanine Pamplin; children, Stephanie Davenport (David), Debbie Underwood (Greg), Jim Wood (Darlene), and David Wood (Farrah); grandchildren, Tara Buckmaster (Chris), Megan Carroll (Tim), Christie Savage (Steve), Jeannia Capps, Mason Davenport (Traci), Holden Davenport, Evan Davenport, Myles Wood, Brent Underwood, Aaron Wood (Holly), Jacob Pamplin and Jesse Pamplin; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Odell Pamplin (Mary Jane), and Wanda Holland (Chick); and many other family members and friends.
A family visitation will be 5:30PM-7:30PM, Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel.
A celebration of Wayne’s life will be 11AM, Friday, July 26, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
