Thomas Arthur Staton, 81

Died Sunday, November 24, 2019

Thomas “TA” Arthur Staton, 81, of Muskogee, OK was born November 18, 1938 in Taft, California to Gordon and Dorothy (Cramer) Staton and peacefully passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 in Muskogee with his loving family by his side.
Thomas graduated from Fort Gibson High School with the class of 1957. On June 2, 1956 he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and was honorably discharged having served his duty. He enlisted with the Army Rangers Reserve and was honorably discharged a second time on December 19, 1962.
On August 16, 1958 he married the love of his life, Myrtle Marie Henderson of Fort Gibson. A marriage that stood the test of time of 61 years, three months and eight days.
TA was a welder/pipefitter/farmer/rancher. He was a member of the Local #430 Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union. He served on the Muskogee County RWD #5 since 2004 serving as chairman from 2011 to present. Thomas always lived south of Muskogee, one half mile east of Martin, OK for 60 years. He was a lifetime member of Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church. His legacy of love, devotion and faith will live on through his family.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Myrtle of the home; daughters, Judy Lanier of Tulsa, OK, Cindy Jackson and husband Ira of Warner, OK; sons, Tommy Staton and wife Linda of McClain, OK and Larry Staton and wife Chris of Council Hill, OK; sisters; Louise Eubanks and Geneva Eaton; grandchildren, Michael Wesley and his wife Lisa Lanier, Kenneth Lanier, Katie Lanier, Sheena and husband Noah Morgan, Shiloh Bullard, Ote Allen Staton, Clint Jackson, Hannah Staton and Brian Spencer; great grandchildren, Karissa and her three children; Amanda, Steven, Rebecca and Dakota Smith and their child Beaux, Kayln, Cheyenne and Levi; and all of his brothers and sisters of Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church and a host of friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William (Dud) and James Staton; sister, Paulette Staton and his son, Jimmie Edward Staton.
Viewing will be Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from noon-7PM at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson.
A Celebration of TA’s Life will be held 10AM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church with Reverend Dean Haley officiating. Wesley Lanier, Kenneth Lanier, Shiloh Bullard, Ote Staton, Noah Morgan and Mason Stowell will serve as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Jody Rogers, Brian Spencer, Tom Croftcheck, Joe Croftcheck, Steve Croftcheck, Clint Jackson and Scott Moore, JR Hutson, Kyle Shelton, JD Shelton, Ralph Moses, Bob Lewis.
