Sompon Gattenby
February 2, 1939 – November 4, 2018
Pon Gattenby was born February 2, 1939 in Phra Phutthabat, Thailand and with her family by her side, she took her last breath on earth and held the hand of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 4, 2018.
She grew up in Sukhothai, Thailand with 17 brothers and sisters. Pon has always been the cornerstone of her family. As a single mother, while working, she met the one true love of her life. On July 31, 1972 in Ubon, Thailand, she married Sgt. Kelly D. Gattenby.
Pon always had a smile as long as she was surrounded by her family; her world was complete. She was the happiest serving people. Anyone that knew Pon, knew she could cook. She loved feeding people her recipes of delicious food. She also enjoyed playing cards, growing her infamous garden, and fishing with her love.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Toon Thongrarai and wife Melinda, Enoch Gattenby and wife Randell, James Gattenby and wife Katie, all of Muskogee; daughter, Aoy Lee and husband Thai of Plainfield, Il; grandchildren, Toon W. Thongrarai, Jack and Vanessa Thongrarai, Kelly Ray Gattenby, Kimberly Sadler and Cliff, Amy Thongrarai-Marble and Casey, all of Muskogee, Keli Pierce and husband Kasey of Broken Arrow, and Keira Petroski of Muskogee. She was blessed to have known her 3 great-grandchildren, August Nicole Dickerson, Mikel Kelly Marble, Lilly Camber Thongrarai, all of Muskogee; sister-in-law, Susan Hill and Lynn, nephews, Shaun Hill and Eric Hill; niece, Christy Nockels; her second family, Niki, Ranya, Sanya and Constance Satterfield, and Alicia Schneidewent, Star Clark, Cyerra Thompson, and Kaydence Hankins; along with other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Pon was loved by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30pm, Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
