Shannon Jarrard Poteete, 47

Born Monday, November 1, 1971

Died Thursday, January 3, 2019

Shannon Jarrard Poteete, 47, of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma went to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 3, 2019. He attended Webbers Falls Public Schools throughout his junior year. He then transferred to Stilwell High School, completing his senior year, and graduating with the class of 1990.
Growing up with the love of sports, to say it simply, Shannon was a competitive athlete and leader. While at Stilwell High School, his senior year, Shannon played football, basketball, and baseball. He was an all-state player in both football and baseball; choosing baseball, he was a 4A baseball state champion.
After high school, Shannon attended Connors State College on a baseball scholarship under Coach Perry Keith.
While at Connors, Shannon met his future wife, Tobi Kizzia, with whom he would begin a family with which includes the two loves of his life, son, Jarrard and daughter, Navi.
Shannon wore many hats. He had a passion for buying and selling just about anything. While spending most of his life as a car dealer, he also loved trading horses, auctions, and his job. He was a numbers man and a quick thinker. He loved sports and watching his son, Jarrard play ball was his favorite.
Shannon will always be remembered as the best father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, along with so many other roles he filled in people’s lives. His heart for others showed, and he was the most giving person you would meet; a pure heart of gold.
Shannon will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Troy and Lillie Poteete, Leon and Pearl Jarrard; aunts, Carol Fountain and Irma Poteete; uncles, E.L. Poteete and Clentis Jarrard.
Shannon is survived by his children, Jarrard and Navi and their mother, Tobi Poteete; parents, Herb and LaDema Poteete; brother, Sherard and wife Jamie Poteete; along with an abundance of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and many dear friends including Belinda McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30pm, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Shannon’s life will be 10AM, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Webbers Falls First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee. Pallbearers will be Jarrard Poteete, Brandon Fourkiller, Sherard Poteete, Jack Cunningham, David Jarrard, Dan’l Kizzia, Ronnie Jarrard, and Kenny Poteete.
