Born Sunday, January 25, 1925

Died Tuesday, October 6, 2020

Sarah was born on January 25, 1925 to Dave and Ada (Jefferson) Sanders in a home on Cane Creek in Boynton, OK. Sarah accepted Christ at an early age and joined church. Sarah attended the Old Lee School and graduated. She and her family moved into the town of Boynton.
Sarah had 1 son, she named him Luther E. Bell. Sarah later moved to Oklahoma City to find work and she did, she worked for the Roberts Hotel as a maid and the Black Hotel where she was an elevator operator for 40 years. During that time she met Joe Cole and married him. They were together for 12 years and later the marriage was dissolved.
Sarah soon retired and upon returning back home to Boynton she was offered the job to work as a Foster Grandparent at the Boynton Public schools working with children, and assisting the teachers. During her time there she received many certificates for her service and other awards, she continued her education traveling to various places for workshops to learn how to do the job better.
Sarah reunited with Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Lester Wilson, Rev. Leon Campbell and yours truly, Pastor Anthony Folks. She worked faithfully in the church as superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School teacher, usher, mission sister, singing in the choir and she attended bible study and prayer meeting weekly. Sarah’s hobbies were fishing, gardening, cooking, and helping where ever she could be of service. As the years went by her health began to decline. Sarah continued to help family a much a she could, she decided it’s time to really retire so she moved to Muskogee to live with her son and his wife for a few years, then she decided to go to Brentwood Extended Care & Rehab Center in Muskogee, OK. She met lots of friend, attend church services, played games and during her stay she was asked the question do you want to come back home, she said with a smile “NO! I LOVE IT HERE, IT’S JUST LIKE HOME, THEY DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU, YOU SEE EVERYBODY, DOCTORS, NURSES. I WISH I WOULD HAVE COME HERE YEARS AGO.” She showed her love to everyone she met, she would always say be good to people, treat them like you want to be treated. That was her recipe for long life.
Sarah kept the faith she closed her eyes on October 6, 2020 to wake up singing in the heavenly choir. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, 6 brothers, 4 sisters.
