Sandra Lee Washington Carey, 70, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. She was born on August 1, 1949 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Joe and Wilma (Wolfe) Washington. She attended Muskogee Public Schools and earned a degree in accounting from Connor’s State College.
Sandra married the love of her life, Dale Carey, on November 2, 1979 at Open Door Community Church. They enjoyed over 38 years of a happy life and marriage together.
Sandra retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs Department of Interior in 2004. She worked hard all of her life. She was committed to serving Christ and her role as a Pastor’s wife. Together, with her husband Dale, they served 24 years at Vann Lake Church. During that time, she taught Sunday school, led worship, and planned events. She did the work of ten women and never complained. Sandra loved watching football and the Hallmark channel and talking about her grand babies. She loved hot tamales, sour patch kids, and Christmas nougat, even though she wasn’t supposed to have any.
Sandra always had an encouraging word or funny story to tell. She loved to pray for people and share Jesus with them.
