Sandy Jean Hine, 91, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed from this life at home with her caregiver husband of 71 years by her side on January 11, 2021. She was born on August 17, 1929 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her parents were Dr. and Mrs. John Haddock. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1947. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She met Ted Hine at OU and they married in 1949. She graduated from Draughns Business College and worked as a business secretary while they lived in Kansas City, Missouri where Ted was attending the dental school that both of their fathers and later their son attended.
They moved to Muskogee, which was Ted’s hometown when he graduated in 1952. She became a fulltime mother, and her greatest joy was caring for her family and being involved in the activities of her children.
During the 70 plus years with Ted, she enjoyed their traveling abroad and also in their RV, the Round Up Club trail rides and her quarter-horse, Babe, her pets, Lulu and Friskie, being Ted’s co-pilot and part time office assistant, water skiing, tennis, golf, dancing, and big band music.
Sandra was a volunteer at the Muskogee Regional Medical Center for many years. She was a devout Christian and a deeply knowledgeable student of the Bible. She was an active member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Linda Susan, her son, Mark, and sister Shirly Bowers Wilcoxson.
Sandra is survived by her much-loved husband Ted; son, Dr. Craig Hine; daughter, Kim Hine; sister Sharon Schick and her husband Bob; sister-in-law Jerry Jorgensen and her husband George; and grandchildren Kirsten Perl, Whitney Reid and her husband John, Adam and his wife Amber, Ted Cameron Hine, Alison Hine Priscilla Romine, and Max McGuirk.
She has requested memorials be sent to St Paul United Methodist Church in Muskogee.
A private family service to honor Sandra’s life will be 11:30am, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. David Burris officiating. The services will be live streamed via the Facebook page and YouTube.
