Ruth Ann Briggs, age 81, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK after a long and courageous fight with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren.
She was born March 25, 1938 in Clarksville, Arkansas to William and Dorothy (Higdon) Dismukes. She attended Muskogee Central High School and graduated from Henryetta High School in 1956.
On September 8, 1960, Ann married Ollie Dean Briggs in Muskogee. They celebrated 59 years of marriage. Together in 1978, Ann and Ollie opened a motorcycle shop, “Ollie’s Honda Place.” Ann also worked in accounting and with J.C. Penney’s Styling Salon. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and the Elks Club. Ann loved playing the piano, cooking, hosting holidays and events for family and special friends, and attending The Wesley Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Billy. Ann will be remembered as a beautiful daughter, caring sister, loving wife, compassionate mother, adoring grandmother and an obedient humble servant of God.
Ann is survived by her husband and soulmate, Ollie; son, Paul Briggs and wife Mary; daughter, Lisa Rowsey and husband Jeffrey; brother, Alan Dismukes and wife Cindy; nephew, Jimmy Bliss and niece, Casey Stewart; grandchildren, Madison and Court Rowsey, Jacob Briggs, Megan Green and husband Cody; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ryder and Easton.
Ann’s family extends their sincerest gratitude to the staff of both St Francis Muskogee and Tulsa for the care and comfort they provided during this difficult time and a special thanks to Dr. Janjua and 4 West Oncology Nurses and Staff.
In lieu of flowers, Ann’s family suggests memorials be made to Muskogee Community Food Pantry at First United Methodist Church.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be 11:00am, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Smith and Chaplain Cindy Culver officiating.
