Died Saturday, March 9, 2019

Ruby Pauline Guinn, age 82, of Fort Gibson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Saturday, March 9, 2019. She was born May 8, 1936 in Tahlequah OK to Clyde and Mattie (Duvall) Maher. She grew up the fourth of five children in a loving home as a pastor’s daughter. Strong in her faith, she married the love of her life Fred Guinn December 22, 1954 and of that loving union two daughters were born. Ruby worked hard through home school courses to earn her diploma while focusing on her family as a homemaker. As the children grew, she worked outside of the home as a Deputy Clerk for the Cherokee County Treasurer’s Office for over 20 years. She also served her community as a member of the Cherokee County Extension Homemakers Group, actively participating in activities and fairs. Ruby was a lifetime member of the Church of God 7th Day, serving as an active church member and church secretary for many years.
She loved to work in her vegetable and flower gardens, always proud of the produce and always ready to share it with family and friends. She also had an immense talent for sewing and proudly made many of her children’s and grandchildren’s clothes. Ruby’s greatest love was dedicating her later years to spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids. She had a hand in raising each of them.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Mattie Maher, two sisters, Margaret Guinn and Louise Taylor, one brother Clyde “Sonny” Maher, her husband Fred Guinn and two great grandsons, Tristin and Tucker Revis.
