On December 5, 1931 the Lord blessed Charley and Carrie Shine with another flower and they named her Rosa Lee.
In 1947 she married the love of her life Paul Derrick and with this union she was blessed with three son’s Paul Jr., Robert Murl and Frederick. In 1951 she became a widow after her husband was killed in an explosion while serving in the U.S Navy. She moved her and her young children to Waco, TX where they completed their education with Paul Jr. and Robert enlisting in the U.S Army while Frederick became a Registered Nurse specializing in Psych.
Rosa was a dedicated mother and treasured her children. She especially loved her role as Grandma, in her last days she enjoyed working her word search puzzles with her Grand-daughters Captoria and Raquel and her daily coffee and chat with her Grandson Frederick Jr. She was blessed with a Host of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren all whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her Parents Charley and Carrie Shine, her Husband Paul Derrick Sr, her Son’s Paul Jr. and Frederick Sr., her sisters Helen Brown, Cloteal Gahagan and her brothers Ira Lee Shine, Truman Shine, Elliott Shine, Charley Shine Jr. and Joedy Shine.
She is survived by her Son Robert Murl (Denise) and her Brother Herman Shine. A host of nieces, nephews and many devoted friends.
She always had a saying “I keep my daddy’s knife close by and it’s sharp”
A Service of Memory will be conducted, Saturday. Nov. 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel/House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee. Public visitation, Friday, Nov.19th in the chapel during the hours of 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
