He had many different types of jobs during his life; he worked pulling cotton as a young boy at the age of 13 in Arizona, New Mexico, and different parts of Oklahoma. No matter the job he always made sure to send money home to help support the family.

He also worked washing and detailing cars at McGowan Car Dealership. He worked with his brother, Junior, at the Alfalfa Mill and then later helping him pour cement. He drove the school bus for his father for a while. Red worked for the Sanford Brothers in Wichita, KS washing and buffing cars before eventually starting his own business, R & L Automotive Cleaning Service in Wichita, KS.

Red moved back to the country in Oklahoma near his brother Odell Sr. in 2009. Red loved going to church, he was an active member and became a part of “The Brotherhood” male choir, at his Church, St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church.
