Richard Pruitt, 58, of Haskell, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 31, 2020. He was born on January 31, 1962 in Granite City, Illinois to Harold Adam Pruitt and Caroline (Strobel) Pruitt. Rich lost his mother at age 11 and he then came to live with his grandma and grandpa Pruitt in Haskell, Oklahoma. He loved band and playing the drums. He was very talented. He graduated from Haskell High School with the class of 1980. Rich joined the United States Navy in 1985 and received an honorable discharge in 1992.
He married the love of his life, Peggy Sue Brewer, on May 27, 1994 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They shared oved 25 years of life and marriage together. Rich was a loving husband to Peggy and a wonderful dad, paw paw, brother, uncle and friend.
Rich loved his life. He was a member of Southeast Baptist Church for many years. Rich loved Jesus, his church, taking care of his dad and the farm. He accepted Jesus Christ early in life and never looked back. He was a youth director for 10 years and loved the youth and went to church camp every year.
Rich began his career as a lieutenant at the Jess Dunn Department of Corrections in Taft, Oklahoma for 12 years. He then worked as a fiber optic engineer at Zayo for 15 years and was still employed there upon his death. He enjoyed going fishing and creating things out of nothing. He would not throw away anything because he always said, “Someone might need it”. He loved junk and had the Sanford and Son ringtone. He also enjoyed woodworking, building things for his family, auctions, garage sales, riding his tractor and junkin’.
Rich loved his family very much and loved getting to spend time with them. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline Pruitt; paternal grandparents, Chester and Grace Pruitt; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Emily Strobel.
Rich is survived by his loving wife, Peggy of the home; father, Harold Pruitt; children, Kacie Teague and husband Jared of Warner, OK, Jennifer Cox and husband Adam of Haskell, OK, Jamie Enkey and husband Ben of Coweta, OK and Joseph Pruitt and wife Halie of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Kenadie, Jacie, Aidan, Remington, Lizzie, Jess and Rowan; siblings, David Pruitt and wife Kathy of Fontara, CA and Debbie Woll and husband Rick of Highland, IL; nieces and nephews, Jeff Pruitt and wife Jessica of San Bernadino, CA, Greg Pruitt of Tulsa, OK and Karolyn Page of Highland, IL; great-nieces and nephews, Michael Pruitt, Jackson, Noah and Luke Pruitt; and many other family members and friends.

A celebration of Rich’s life will be 2PM, Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Southeast Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Murray officiating and Pastor Andy Campbell and Pastor Frank Gregory assisting. Interment will follow at Haskell City Cemetery with Jared Teague, Adam Cox, Brent Fletcher, Jordan Cochran, Jeff Pruitt and Greg Pruitt serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Brewer, Ben Enkey and Barry Phillips.
