Raymond Edward Torix, Sr., 74, of Okay, Oklahoma was born August 6, 1946 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to L.G. and Margie (Baughman) Torix and passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He received his formal education in Fort Gibson and graduated from Fort Gibson High School.
Raymond then joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.
Ray married the love of his life Wanda Gilbert on November 16, 2015.
Raymond enjoyed gambling, fishing, working on vehicles, and riding motorcycles. He loved to hunt, and was well versed at shooting pool. He was a gifted guitar player and enjoyed singing Merle Haggard songs with family and friends. Raymond was a huge Oakland Raiders fan.
He will be remembered as a faithful husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend. Raymond was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Raymond is lovingly survived by his wife, Wanda of the home; daughter, Shandalla Arteaga and husband Nicolas of Davenport, Oklahoma; son, Ray Torix Jr. of Davenport, Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Kim Moore of Haskell, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christina Arteaga of Piedmont, Alabama, Jose Arteaga, Maria Arteaga, Emily Arteaga, Kolton Arteaga and Kaileigh Torix all of Davenport, Oklahoma; step-granddaughter, Mallory Lee of Haskell, Oklahoma; sisters, Donna Childress and Carol Elam; brothers, Leslie Torix and Alan Torix; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Breann Torix; brothers, Rick Torix and Billy Torix; sisters, Jean Holt and Shirley Stewart.
A visitation with family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson, OK.
A graveside service Celebrating Raymond’s life will be 11AM Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Citizens Cemetery Pavilion in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma with Brother Justin Kinman officiating. Ray Torix, Jr., Jose Arteaga, Nicholas Arteaga, Shaun Nicholson, Buck Torix and Robert Moose will serve as casket bearers.
