Born Wednesday, January 30, 1935
Died Monday, January 3, 2022
She came barreling onto this earth in Oklahoma City, OK on the 30th day of January in 1935. Patsy Ruth was the daughter of a carpenter, James Cornelius Featherson and an aeronautics technician, Lucille Eva Featherson. Patsy had a baby brother, Clifford Allan Featherson in June 1937. The family relocated to a home on Harris Road in Muskogee, OK shortly after Allan was born – where they ran a small dairy farm and Patsy enjoyed playing with her brother, their dog, Major, riding horses, and one rare occasion, even riding a Jersey Bull. The family relocated to Garden Grove, CA where her mother, Lucille became a technician at Hughes Aircraft. Patsy enjoyed the beach and the sun; she would often go swimming in the ocean after school and sit on the beach until her clothes dried before going home so her mother wouldn’t know. Patsy’s father moved back to Muskogee, OK so she spent some time back and forth between the two places.
Patsy gave birth to her son, Carl Robert Cagle on January 15, 1955 in Muskogee, OK to her husband at the time Ernest Carl Cagle. The three moved back to California where Patsy worked as a server, cook, and bartender until 1975 when she retired. Patsy met Steve Rodin, Jr. a longshoreman in the 1970s while working as a bartender at a pub the longshoremen frequented. Patsy and Steve fell in love and were married in San Pedro in 1983. After Steve retired they moved to Muskogee, OK and enjoyed their later years spending time with family, friends and running a small cattle operation. Undoubtedly, Patsy Ruth was and still is a beaming ray of hope, humanity, and humor; she brought joy, laughter, and peace to generations past and to come. Patsy lived out her final days in Muskogee surrounded by her family and friends. Death came to her relief on January 3, 2022 where she died peacefully at home just as she demanded.
Patsy was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Braybrooks; father, James Featherson; aunts, Jerri and Velma; grandson, Malachi Cagle; and doting husband, Steve Rodin.
She is survived by her son, Carl Robert Cagle of Muskogee, OK; daughter-in-law, Sandra Kay Cagle of Muskogee, OK; granddaughter, Elizabeth R. Cagle of Tahlequah, OK; bonus grandson, John Fell of Tahlequah, OK; granddaughter-in-law, Nicole Shanks-Cagle; great-granddaughters, Graicyn, Alice, and Lily Cagle; and many families still living in California.
Patsy was an active member of York St. Christian Church, and her final wishes were donations be made to the Gospel Rescue Mission or PAWS in lieu of flowers.
A celebration of Patsy Ruth’s life will be 2PM, Friday, January 14th at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Brother Bill Hardin officiating. A small graveside service will be available to attend immediately after the service at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, OK where Patsy will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Steve. The family would like to express their appreciation for all the love, support, and prayers during these trying times from family, friends, and the community. Patsy’s family would also like to extend a big thank you to the Hardin, House, and Stoodley families for all their help during Patsy’s final days.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory 1830 N York St Muskogee, OK 74403. Condolences can be made to the family at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
