Michelle Chambers, 66

Born Friday, December 30, 1955

Died Sunday, May 22, 2022

Michelle Chambers was born on Dec 30, 1955 in St. Joseph, MO, to Stephen Michael Priolo and Iris Ann Parker. Not long after, the family relocated to Webbers Falls, OK. Growing up in Webbers Falls, Michelle attended the Webbers Falls school system from kindergarten until her graduation in 1973. Michelle was quite excited to be voted in as the Basketball Queen attendant her Senior Year at Webbers. After graduation, in 1973, she started attending Connors State College. Upon graduation from Connors, she attended classes at Northeastern State University where she earned her bachelor's degree, continuing on to receive her master’s degree in psychology and high school counseling. Michelle continued working as a high school educator and counselor for Muskogee Public Schools, as well as teaching Psychology at Northeastern State University, until her retirement in 2017.
Upon retirement, Michelle enjoyed travelling, going on cruises, frequenting antique stores, book stores, and going to Texas to spoil her grandchildren. Michelle had lots of “unofficial” children and “grandchildren”. In her position as high school counselor, many children who were struggling with various challenges of life suddenly found someone who was on their side when they visited Mrs. Chambers’ office. Always willing to give of herself, Michelle would provide transportation for these children, write letters of recommendation for jobs, or simply invite them into her home for a meal. Many young lives were touched by her never-ending generosity and heart of gold.
Michelle Chambers was preceded in death by her father Stephen Michael Priolo in 1989, her stepfather Arch Parker in 2012, and mother Iris Ann Parker in 2021. She is survived by son Keith Coleman, wife Corey and their son Carson of Piedmont, OK; Megan Chambers and husband Chris Huskey, along with their three sons Hayes, Heath and Hudson of Melissa, TX; Mallory Carr and husband Keith Carr of the home. She is also survived by her sister Mindy Hendrix and husband Larry of Roland, OK, and brother Mike Courtney of Mississippi.
In addition to immediate family, she is survived by a large number of nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
Michelle enjoyed life and its many adventures. Whether it be going on a cruise, attending concerts, or browsing through a bookstore looking for a 50-cent book she could argue down to a quarter, she just enjoyed living. She thoroughly enjoyed reading her morning paper and doing her crossword puzzles as she drank coffee in the mornings as well as going to her grandsons’ ball games, or having them spend the night to make popcorn for movie night. She was a fun individual, and we will miss her tremendously. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Encompass Home Health (nurse Catherine), Dr. Moussa and his team at Oklahoma Cancer and Research Specialists, Dr. Hassany with Saint Francis Oncology, the various medics of Muskogee County EMS, and the emergency room staff at Saint Francis Muskogee who always managed to make her as comfortable as possible and receive prompt care. Wherever she went, she made new friends, and we are grateful to you all.
