Merle P. Roller, 81

Born Thursday, February 17, 1938

Died Sunday, May 12, 2019



Merle Patrick Roller, 81, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed to his eternal home on Sunday, May 12, 2019. He was born February 17, 1938 in Clintonville, Arkansas to Walter Edmond Roller and Emma Stockton Roller. Merle attended public schools and graduated from Wheaton High School in Missouri.
Merle entered the military and served as a member of the United States Navy.
He married the love of his life and best friend, Judy Jean Shockley on December 21, 1960 in Stella, Missouri. They celebrated more than 58 years of life and marriage together.
Merle worked at Western Union as an electrical technician for many years and later at Zapata Industries. He retired in 2004.
He will always be remembered as a man of faith, a family man, jokester, and storyteller. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. Merle was a faithful and active member of New Hope Assembly of God Church.
He will be greatly missed.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Emma Roller; brother, Kenneth Roller; and his son, Jerry Roller.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of the home; son, Charlie Roller; daughter, Donna Morgan and husband Jack, of Muskogee; grandchildren, Justin Miller and wife Heather of Broken Arrow, Tonya Stanhope of Muskogee, Mary Braden and husband Michael of Ft. Gibson, Matthew Miller and wife Adrienne of Washington, DC, Sierra Roller, Madison Roller, both of Ohio, and Gabe Roller of Muskogee; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alexis, Cary Lee III, Landen, Bethany, Kattie Lynn, Jaylynn, and Elijah; sister, Pauline Day (Roller); very special friend, Louie Cassaway; along with other family members and friends.
Merle was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
Funeral services celebrating Merleā€™s life will be 2PM, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at New Hope Assembly of God Church with Rev. Monte Humphrey and Rev. Buddy Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with his grandchildren Justin Miller, Tonya Stanhope, Mary Braden, Michael Braden, Gabe Roller, Jordan Miller, Sierra Roller, Madison Roller, and Matt Miller serving as pallbearers.
