Mary Sue Ashlock, 83, of Gore, OK was born January 5, 1937 in Gore, OK to Tom James and Ge-hue-gah Noisey and peacefully passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020 in Gore, OK with her loving family by her side. She was a strong and loving mother, grandmother and a fantastic cook. She loved to spend time working in the yard and her flower beds or sitting on the front porch. She was always cooking something on the stove and would always say suppers ready, ”such as it is.” Her grandkids were her little goombas and she loved them fiercely. She loved playing games with her family and her favorite was bingo. She loved to gamble and would play poker and Yahtzee all night. She was an award-winning quilter and made each member of the family numerous quilts. Mary loved a good “Hershey Bar” and a “fresh Pepsi” and you could find chocolate stashed all over the house. She loved all kinds of music, everything from Tony Bennett to Willie Nelson. Mary is lovingly survived by her daughters; Susan Cates and husband Ross of Norman, OK, Renella Capps and husband Johnny of Gore, OK; grandson, Kyle Shores of Braggs; granddaughters, Taralee Montgomery and husband Colton of Gore, OK, Savanna Isbell and Orlando Colina of Broken Arrow, OK, Katelyn Pearson and husband Alex of Owasso, OK; great granddaughter, Reece Montgomery of Gore, OK; sister Ruby Nutt of Fort Smith, AR; son in law, Bill Shores of Braggs, extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Ashlock; daughter, Carla Shores; grandson, Christopher Shores; sisters, Edna Brown and Nellie Pigeon; brothers, Jess James, Charley Williams, Bob James and Oscar Noisey. A visitation will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends from 5PM-7PM. A graveside service Celebrating Mary’s life will be held 11AM Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at South Bethel Cemetery, Braggs, OK with Pastor Jeff Green officiating.
