Mary Kathryn Kirby, 66

Born Wednesday, December 9, 1953

Died Monday, April 6, 2020

He called her name, “Mary,” April 6, 2020. The warrior saluted her Heavenly Father and entered the honor walk with loved ones surrounding her into her heavenly home.
As a Masters prepared OR nurse, she fought for her patients. She often saw her patients the day before surgery and would tell them that tomorrow you might not recognize me but I want you to know that someone awake and alert will be looking out for you.
Mary’s sons, Michael, Lee, and Heath grew up as military brats as Mary spent 21 years in the USAF Nurse Corps retiring as a LTC in 2002. It never bothered them a bit to hear “your momma wears combat boots” because their momma actually did!
As a member of New Hope AOG, she took the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit and passed with comfort and peace knowing that she was ready to meet the Savior she loved.
Besides her sons, Mary leaves behind six grandsons (Tyler, Hunter, Christopher, Connor, Chase and Carson), two granddaughters (Lacey and Destiny) and one great-grandson, Jace, two great-granddaughters (Daisie and Oaklynn), two sisters (Mona and Janis) and one brother (Wallace). Along with two daughters-in-law (Jody and Sonja), many endearing nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Her parents, DE and Lillie, one brother Leonard, and one grandson, Anthony welcomed her into the throne of God. With tears in our eyes, we will miss you, Mary, but know that we will see you soon. The circle will be unbroken. Psalm 91:14... “I will set him on high, because he has known My Name.”
Public viewing will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2020 9:00am -5:30pm and Thursday, April 9, 2020 9:00am-8:00pm at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A private family service is planned. Her grandsons, Tyler, Hunter, Christopher, Connor, Chase, and Carson will be serving as pallbearers.
