Mary Edith Chancellor, of Warner, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. She was born on September 19, 1923 in Yell County, Arkansas to Gus Salyer and Jenny (Lambert) Salyer. She and her family moved to Morris, Oklahoma in the 1930’s by horse and wagon, and after a few more moves they settled in Muskogee.
At the age of 18 she met a soldier, Homer Chancellor, on his way back home to Texas and they got married on December 14, 1941 at the Muskogee County Court House by Judge John Gulager. After WWII they eventually settled on a farm between Webbers Falls and Warner. They lived and worked the farm together everyday from September 7, 1950 till the passing of Mr. Chancellor on November 19, 2002. They had three children together, Home Lee, Linda and Lonnie; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mary worked hard all her life till she finally had to go to the nursing home in Warner for her last few years. She always said she would live till she was 100 years old, and she almost made it at the age of 98.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be 2:30PM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating.
