Marvin Henry Gilliland, 74, of Fort Gibson was born November 17, 1946 in Fort Gibson to Marvin and Annabelle (Kennedy) Gilliland and peacefully passed away, Sunday, October 17, 2021 at his home in Fort Gibson with his loving family by his side.
Marvin was a lifelong resident of Fort Gibson, and graduated from Fort Gibson High School with the class of 1964. After graduation, he joined the Oklahoma National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1968 as an E-4.
Marvin was the owner of A1 Auto Repair from 1969 until he retired from his business in 1992. On February 19, 1980 he married the love of his life, Susan Carol Irving in Denison, Texas. Together they shared forty-one years, seven months and twenty-eight days making precious memories together. Marvin was a member of the Fort Gibson First Baptist Church, Elks Lodge, and the Masonic Lodge for many years. He loved to hunt, fish, go camping, and was also a hunting guide. He made many memories with his kids and grandchildren taking them hunting and fishing and just spending time outdoors. Marvin enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and he really loved to eat.
Marvin is lovingly survived by his wife, Susan of the home; sons, Gary Isbell and wife, Kandi of Fort Gibson, Mike Gilliland and wife, Michele of Fort Gibson, Mark Gilliland of Fort Gibson, Ray Isbell and wife Paula of Braggs; daughter, Linda Carpenter and husband, James of Porter; honorary sons, Jeff Rose and wife, Cassie of Fort Gibson and Rowdy Honeycutt and wife Amanda; honorary daughter, Donnell Johnson; grandchildren, Brett, Brad, Julie, Nick, Zach, Bryce, Laney, Donnie, Becca and Jonathan, Hannah, Alesia and Jolee; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Anita Brawley and husband, Mike of Muskogee; brother, John Gilliland and wife, Kay of Fort Gibson, extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Annabelle Gilliland; sister, Karen Honeycutt; paternal grandparents, Henry and Lucy Gilliland; maternal grandparents, Monroe and Nancy Kennedy.
A Celebration of Marvin’s life will be 10:00AM Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Gibson with Pastor Glen Rowan officiating. Honorary urn bearers are Jim Yandell, Wade Rousselot, Tony Irving, Eugene Meeks, Bill Mocha, Mike Shoemake and Larry Morgan.
