Mable Marie Taylor, 88 of Fort Gibson, was born October 25, 1933, in Muskogee, OK to Herbert and Letha Marea (Garland) Biggs - Stevens and entered Heaven’s Gates on Saturday, January 15, 2022, in Fort Gibson, OK. At 16 years old, Mable married her best friend, Teddy Taylor and made their home in Fort Gibson. In 1972, she wrote a book “If Houses Could Talk”, the story of her life as a child in the great depression, and she continued to write as her family grew. In 1978, Mable became an Oklahoma Tag Agent with her own Agency in Fort Gibson and retired in 1991. Not one to stay retired, she became an IRS Tax Preparer doing taxes for the elderly and underprivileged, retiring again after 21 years. Mable was a devoted member of the Fort Gibson Church of Christ, where she was a Bible Class Teacher, a member of caregivers, women’s bible study, and the ladies Red Hat club. She was a member of the Okies from Muskogee CB/Camping Club and she and Teddy were known as powderpuff and pole climber. Genealogy was her main hobby and she served as the local treasurer for many years. Mable was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She never met a stranger and will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Teddy; a sister, Leonah Simmons; and a granddaughter, Rochelle Taylor. Mable is survived by one brother Jim Biggs and wife Mary of Ft. Smith, AR and children, Ken Taylor of Oologah, OK, Tommy Taylor and wife Debi of Fort Gibson, OK, Bryce Taylor of Fort Gibson, OK; and her daughter, Angie Huie and husband Mark of Cooper, TX; twelve grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and two special friends, Linetta Seabolt and Marcy Smith. Viewing for Miss Mable will be noon-7PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson. A service celebrating Mable’s life is scheduled for 10:00AM Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Fort Gibson Church of Christ with Minister Stephen Parker and Mable’s family officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at the Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Scott Taylor, Kenny G. Taylor, Brady Taylor, Keylan Seaton, T.J. Cly, and Dakota Smith serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Joel Holston, Randall Brison, Lane Taylor, Seth Taylor, and Mark Huie.
