Maynard Jay Stout was born August 24, 1947 in the Old Baptist Hospital in Muskogee, OK to Von and Lillian Stout and was the oldest of five children. He was a lifelong resident of Muskogee County, a 1965 graduate of Warner High School and 1969 graduate of Northeastern State University. Jay served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was later employed by Acme Engineering for many years and was the horticulture market representative when he left to pursue other opportunities. Before retiring he was a sales representative for American Plant Products based out of Oklahoma City. He made many friends in the horticulture industry and had the opportunity to travel both domestically and internationally. After retiring he devoted his time to his family, traveling, attending ballgames, following the St. Louis Cardinals and taking care of his cows. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; daughter, Lacey and husband Russell Huff, Bartlesville, OK; son CJ, Neosho, MO; and son, Daniel, Tahlequah, OK. His four grandchildren will miss their Papa; Madeline and Sutton Huff and Sawyer and Owen Stout. Also remaining are his brothers, Don, children Melissa (Michael) Crawley, and Eric (Tosha) Stout and families; Barry (Sandy), and Steve (Jan), and their families, and sister, Karen Stout, son, River Rolston, all of Muskogee.
A celebration of Jay’s life will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 10AM. Burial will follow at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Three Rivers Museum or any charity of choice.
